To study the west, we must study the myths as well as the history of it. Myth constructs the ideal image of the society, while history tells the reality of western stories. West is the laboratory of American Identity. In the west, culture from the Old World collided with the culture from the Mexicans, Asians, Indians, and other ethnic groups. Those cultures mixed together and created a new identity. America as the melting pot began here in the West.
